Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Sister Laura Wolf shares on a recent pilgrimage that she and Sisters serving at Genesis Health Care System, Zanesville , OH took to Mattingly Settlement, OH.
Sister Maureen Anne Shepard, Sister Bernadette Selinsky and I were invited by Father Donald Franks and his parishioners to visit the new St. Francis Abbey Monastery Eucharistic Adoration Chapel at Mattingly Settlement near Zanesville, Ohio on January 9, 2017. The chapel is an addition to St. Mary’s Church at Mattingly Settlement which was built in 1857 and includes updated plumbing, new electrical and technology services, meeting rooms and gathering spaces for the parish and surrounding area. The chapel was furnished and decorated with religious artifacts and statues that were in the now demolished Good Samaritan Chapel. The statues, tabernacle, pews and the stained glass windows adorn the building. It is a beautiful building and we are proud to have been able to find such a wonderful home for the belongings from the Good Sam Chapel and a group that will honor our Franciscan tradition.
