Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity sponsored Silver Lake College of the Holy Family held its 2019 Student Symposium, A Celebration of Ideas. Postulant Yazmin and Novices Sister Clare Rose and Sister Cecilia Joy presented at the 16th annual event. The day was possible through the combined efforts of faculty and staff, including our Franciscan Sisters and many other volunteers.

Professor Sister Marcolette Madden introduced Novice Sister Clare Rose who offered best practices in teaching social studies. This was achieved by incorporating the social and emotional domain of learning using primary and secondary sources for research, creating a timeline and constructing a map study. Her topic was “A View of World War II from the Air: A Social Studies Unit for Eighth Graders. She impersonated our Sister Aquinas, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity who assisted in the training of pilots during this era.

In the area of fine arts, Postulant Yazmin displayed a drawing and design artwork in the Lake’s Edge Gallery.

Novice Sister Cecilia Joy presented one of her creative poems entitled: Shattered. Watch for a future post on this creative writing.
