Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity from St. Benedict’s Convent attended the 50th Salt Fork Arts and Crafts Festival held at Cambridge City Park.
There were close to a 100 booths with artists using the medium of glass, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics/pottery, fiber, wood, paintings, acrylic, photography, leather, metal & other media. There also were craft classes held for children & adults.
There were twelve different groups performing in a tent consisting of bands & individual instruments. In the big Pavilion The Cambridge Singers & the Salt Fork Festival Choir and The City Band played. Sr. Sharon Paul was one of five parishioners who represented Christ Our Light Parish in the Salt Fork Festival Choir. The Conductor was Robert O. Jones and the Accompanist was Leonard Thomas. The selections sung were: “Hear Me, Redeemer,” “Laudamus,” “This is My Father’s World,” “America,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” & “The Irish Blessing.”
It was a beautiful God-given day to reflect and witness the many artists and seeing their finished products, what they produce and a chance to get ideas and even to purchase. One of the songs sung by the Festival Choir called “Laudamus” sums up the weekend: “Unto Thee all praise be given, King of kings & Lord of lord. Heaven & earth proclaim Thy glory, and the wonders of Thy works.”
