Franciscan Sister Martinella Janz offers the poem ‘The Call’ for your reflection.

The Call

I call, softly, gently,

With loving tones.

I warmly call your name.

You pretend not to hear at first.

I call again.

You pause from your work and

become even busier!

I call you again, and

Again you stop and turn

Listening, seeing, passed me.

Excited, I call your name

with all the love in my heart

that I could summon for you!

Yet, you don’t see me and

You turn away leaving me alone.

Once more, I call out

louder than before.

For a moment, you hesitate.

Your back is turned to me and

You keep going, only faster now,

Hurrying!

Perhaps you did hear.

I will try again later.

The place God calls you to is the place where deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet. -Frederick Buechner  We invite you.
