At Christmas time it is not unusual to display precious collections. One of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity’s special favorites are porcelain plates inspired by the windows of the Cathedral of Chartres both in color and design.  It is a house of Henri d”Arceau L et Restieau first proprietary edition. It was a gift from benefactors remembered with love year round and cherished in our archives.

Looking at the artistic beauty of the plate, artist Andre Restieau in describing his work says, “I tried to suggest the awe Simeon personifying the waiting world, felt as Mary presented him with the fullfillment of the promise of a Savior. Joseph’s candle symbolizes Christ as the Light in Simeon’s famous prayer, ‘ A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of the people Israel.'”.
