Discernment Prayer of St. Bonaventure for All Vocations

Followers of St. Francis look to St. Bonaventure as another source of encouragement and wisdom especially in the light of discernment. After writing his own prologue which relates his own life story and the goings on in the order and in history,  St. Bonaventure writes: “It is important that you do not run through these reflections in a hurry, but that you take your time and ruminate over them slowly.”

As we anticipate the Feast of the Seraphic Doctor, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity invite you to pray these words attributed to this follower of Saint Francis. May they create a pathway of  peace in your mind and heart.

“May my heart always hunger for you and my soul thirst for you, the source of life, wisdom, knowledge, light and all the riches of God. May I always seek and find you, think about you, speak to you and do everything for your honor and glory. Be always my hope, my peace, my refuge and my help, in whom my heart is rooted, so that I may never be separated from You. Amen.”

St. Bonaventure Stained Glass Window

Steph Johnson from St. Bonaventure Catholic Church recalled that “18 stained glass windows were installed in September of 1926 at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus, NE. The windows, including this one of St. Bonaventure, were made in Munich, Germany and purchased from Emil Frei of St. Louis, Missouri for a total of $6,050. Beginning in 2019, St. Bonaventure Church started a refurbish project to remove, clean and reinstall all of our windows in our church due to rotted and weathered frames from elements overtime. The project cost $18,385 per window and was beautifully done by Lambrecht Glass Studio in Omaha, NE. We are very grateful for the support given and passion expressed from our parishioners to complete this much needed project!”
