On August 16, 2022 Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity welcomed Michelle Ozuna from St. Paul Catholic Church, Austin, Texas to begin her journey as a Postulant in our Community. We share the simple ritual that was prayed as she walked for the first time through the door of the Portiuncula, the living space of those in Initial Formation in our Motherhouse. In the photo Michelle is now pictured in her Postulant habit.

Entrance Into The Portiuncula

Leader: As one initiated into our Faith, do you come to deepen your response to the graces you received at your Baptism?

Postulant: This is what I long to do.

Leader: Then listen to the words of our Father Saint Francis:

Reader: If anyone wishing by divine inspiration to accept this life, comes to us, let her be received with kindness. If she is determined to accept our life, let us receive her with kindness, encourage her and diligently explain the tenor of our life to her.

Leader: In obedience to this command of St. Francis, we welcome you to the Portiuncula where our way of life be introduced to you in word and example. May it bring you joy of heart and peace of spirit. Let us all say Amen! Alleluia!

All: Amen! Alleluia!

All enter the Portiuncula.

God calls you. We invite you.
