Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity were recently invited to the Arise Milwaukee Family Day at Menomonee Falls Village Park.  With live music from the Scally Brothers, kid-friendly activities, Ideal Magic Show with Caleb Hyatt and more, this entertaining day of faith was a blessed event for many families. Although rain clouds threatened, joy abounded all the more. Arise Milwaukee staff members were a blessing handling all the details. We also spent the afternoon with Bishop Jim Schuerman, Fr. Alex Rodriguez, Fr. Tim Shumaker, other Priests, Seminarians, Deacons and The Secular Institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary

Here’s more on our perceptions from this year’s Arise Milwaukee Family Day.

Sister Michelle Marie: “It was a blessing and joy to attend the Arise Milwaukee Family Day festivities.  It was a chance to celebrate the strength of families in a thriving and faith-filled community.  The sparks of curiosity expressed in the faces of the many children that approached us to know more about us as Religious Sisters was both endearing and inspiring.  It was evident that Christ was the center for all in attendance and their faith was truly lived out in a familial way.  Through our participation with families in play and prayer and through the time spent with parents in conversation we were helping to build the body of the church.  The day of family concluded in the best possible way, with Christ present in the Holy Eucharist for Adoration with opportunity for prayer services and the sacrament of reconciliation.  I appreciate all the work the Arise team put into making the event such a fruitful experience for all.”

Sister Elena Gonzales: I had enjoyable time visiting and sharing my Franciscan life with young Catholic families.”

Sister Catherine Peter Logan: “ARISE MILWAUKEE FAMILY DAY 2023 was a wonderful experience. It was delightful to share in faith as we interacted with parents, kiddos, and others through conversation and games. It lifts my heart to see parents take advantage of opportunities, like ARISE, to bring the Catholic faith to life for their children. Rain may have caused shuffling of event plans through the day but our Amazing God was there in the laughter, music, games & activities, food, and fellowship. And how better to end the day with Adoration and confession. Thank You Arise Milwaukee for another Blessed event!

Sister Hannah Johnecheck offered a simple Franciscan prayer to those who gathered for Eucharistic Adoration. “O sublime humility! O humble sublimity! The lord of the universe, God and the Son of God, so humbles himself that for our salvation he hides himself under an ordinary piece of bread! Look at the humility of God, and pour out your hearts before him! Humble yourselves that you may be exalted by him! Hold nothing back of yourselves for yourselves, that he who gives himself totally to you may receive you totally!”
