Former Franciscan College Crucifix Continues Being Lenten Focus

As we begin the Season of Lent, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity share some recent photos of a favorite crucifix once hanging in the chapel of former Holy Family College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. As you may recall the crucifix was given to the parishioners of St. Clare Parish in Wrightstown, Askeaton and Greenleaf, Wisconsin. Here’s a photo taken in May, 2022 when the crucifix was taken down.

Today. the crucifix continues to call the faithful to “rebuild My Church”. Fr. Brian Wideman prays at the recent Ash Wednesday Liturgy with his congregation.

St. Francis of Assisi not only prayed to know his vocation, his call from God, but also for practical, common sense of what needs to be done right here and right now.  Here’s a prayer of how best to think through situations with prudence and discernment that is fitting to share during these Lenten days of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. May the Lord bless Fr. Brian and all the good people of Wrightstown, Askeaten and Greenleaf. (Photos: Benjamin Wideman)

“Most High, glorious God, enlighten the darkness of my heart and give me true faith, certain hope, and perfect charity, sense and knowledge, Lord, that I may carry out Your holy and true command. Amen.”

I am so very grateful for this article reminding us of where that beloved crucifix went. It is uplifting to see it at St. Clare Parish. May the vision of this sacramental bring comfort and insight to all who gaze upon it.
