Youth Minister Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Rochelle Kerkhof shares on the recent Steubenville of the Rockies Catholic Youth Conference in Aurora, Colorado.
Steubenville of the Rockies is a Catholic Youth Conference sponsored by Steubenville University annually in larger USA cities during the summer months. Its goal is to bring youth to greater appreciation, knowledge and awareness of their Catholic Faith. This event was held at the Gaylord of the Rockies Conference Center and Hotel located in Aurora, Colorado.
3,000 participants from the surrounding region attended this three day conference. I led students and chaperones from the Grant Deanery of the Lincoln, NE Diocese. Locally, preparations for attending SOR begin during the Christmas holidays. July 21-23, 2024 was the dates for this year’s Conference. Student and chaperone testimonials truly reveal God’s power and graces for their faith life.
“I would say that Steubenville of the Rockies does not just impact the youth, as an adult chaperone it is very moving experience. Watching the youth grow closer to Jesus also brings me closer. I very much enjoy taking them, and spending time with them.”
“Taylor and I both felt the emotional impact of the feeling in room of faith expressed in unison with 3000 young people taking Mass together.”
“Steubenville was an amazing experience. I could feel the Holy Spirit there….And being surrounded by thousands of kids with the same faith trying to get to know God better was incredible.”
“My experiences at the youth conference were incredibly enlightening. Over the course of several days, I had the opportunity to participate in exciting discussions led by others who have experienced God. These sessions deepened my understanding of the ways God works in the life’s of many. I would definitely recommend going to the Steubenville Youth Conference at least once.”
“I enjoyed seeing how many people come together to learn about Christ.”
“And how we all connected during the gathering, wether it was singing or talking to each other.”
