Detroit Young Adults Meet Franciscans at Solanus Casey Center for Eucharist Talk

Holiness is found in people we encounter. Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Sister Concepcion Medina and Sister Mary Ann Spanjers were blessed to meet Midwest Capuchin Friars and young Franciscans, YouFra, on a recent weekend in Detroit. Brother Nathan Linton, OFM Cap. and Sister Mary Ann were invited to share the presentation The Eucharist Adoration to Action at the Solanus Casey Center on Sunday evening, January 19, 2025.

Here are comments about the presentation from the Young Adults themselves.

“I really loved seeing the connection of Adoration and action (what we are called to do?) I also really loved seeing my friends upon the screen.”

“I liked how we got to hear about how religious live their lives as normal people who also live out their strengths/charisms. Sister made a point of saying her personality didn’t fundamentally change.”

“The break between the videos, as well as being able to talk with others about the topic was appreciated. It was great to ponder questions that I don’t normally ask myself.”

Our Sisters also encountered many people in the Solanus Center spending time praying and reflecting at the memorial of Beatified Franciscan Capuchin Father Solanus Casey.  The life and holiness of Father Solanus is exemplified through the many lives he touched and interceded for healing. Father Solanus’ intercession continues today with many pilgrims writing petitions and praying at his tomb.

It’s a small world. Among the same time visitors were  Diocese of Marquette Vocation Director Father Ben Hasse, seminarians and discerners. Also two Diocese of Green Bay Kairos Year men were volunteering hours of service at the Solanus Casey Center. “Let us pray to be guided according to God’s Holy Will at all times and in everything, meritoriously resigned to the same.” (Blessed Solanus Casey, Capuchin, 1870-1957)
