On September 4, 2025 Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity dodged Brewer traffic, but were blessed with an unexpected front row home base parking spot on arrival at the 2025 Archdiocese of Milwaukee Pallium Lecture at the Brookfield Center, Brookfield, Wisconsin. Archbishop Jeffrey S. Grob welcomed all in attendance along with Father Brad Krawczyk, Dr. Lydia LoCoco and a Schola Cantorum of St. Francis de Sales Seminary who added their voices to the program complete with Evening Prayer.  Bishop Daniel E. Flores, S.T.D., Bishop of Brownsville, Texas delivered the Keynote “Synods, Councils and Creeds-Treasuring Our Catholic Inheritance Today.”

Bishop Flores’ presentation of the Creed of Nicaea had strong emphasis that it is “through the Son, in the Spirit to the Father where truth is found in love.” It is the Godhead inviting us to participate in God’s inner life of pure fullness of self-giving.  I found myself translating this in my head to mean that it is from the unending outpouring of drawing me deeper into participation in the inner life of love that I am filled with the grace to pour out my life for others as a Franciscan Sister. -Sister Mary Ann Spanjers

“The Holy Spirit is not just the breath of God or breathing.  The Holy Spirit spiritualizes the WORD. And as the Giver of Life gives new life in us.” – Sister Jacqueline Spaniola

As Bishop Flores reminded us that our Triune God translates best using the God language of prepositions, we, too, treasured moments with others from our own past, present and future relationships as the crowd thinned out.  Sister Jacqueline is pictured with seminarians that have St. Albert the Great, Houghton, Michigan connections whether as students, FOCUS missionary or Totus Tuus Training with the Diocese of Superior and Diocese of Marquette.

It sounds like an uplifting and inspiring experience. One of my favorite phrases is, “through Him, with Him, and in Him,” filled with wonderful prepositions. I like that Bishop called it, “God language of prepositions”. Thanks for sharing the experience!
