Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Concepcion Medina is featured in this Our Sunday Visitor article on Religious Sisters dedicating their lives to God in 2026 from 4 different Religious Congregations.
Writer Katie Yoder is insightful. “Their stories also feature similarities. Prayer, the sacraments and adoration played pivotal roles. Many were drawn to God’s unconditional love and the joy they witnessed in the Catholics around them.”
Sister Concepcion comments: “I found that along the way in life, God was always stirring in my heart to be his alone,”

Reading this article provides so much hope and clarity about religious life and the calling to follow the Lord in this way. After 50 plus years as a religious Sister, I would say I never regretted a moment. Along with the challenges came great joy and peace. I pray each person listens to the call within them to be a committed single person, a married person, or a consecrated, vowed religious. Each vocation has its beauty and I think the beauty of religious life often goes unrecognized.
I will be directing Sister Concepcion’s Perpetual Vow retreat at the end of July. I am so privileged to know her and be a companion on her spiritual journey.
