Religious of the Diocese of Green Bay gathered on Saturday, September 5, 2026 for a Day of Spiritual Enrichment with Bishop Emeritus Gerald Kicanas of the Diocese of Tucson. Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, Franciscan Sisters of the Holy Cross, A New Genesis Community, Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, School Sisters of Notre Dame, Franciscan Friars of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Province, Jesuits serving at Jesuit Retreat Center, Oshkosh, and the Norbertines of St. Norbert Abbey who offered hospitality at the Norbertine Spirituality Center. Bishop Emeritus Gerald F. Kicanas is well known around the country for his wisdom, pastoral care and concern for the marginalized. He is also dear to the hearts of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity since Franciscan Sisters have ministered in the Diocese of Tucson for many years. In more recent years, Franciscan Sisters served in diocesan offices, at San Xavier Mission, Tucson, Santa Cruz, Tucson, San Miguel High School, Tucson, Our Lady of the Mountains, Sierra Vista, St. Andrew, Sierra Vista, St. Anthony, Casa Grande, St. Francis, Yuma, Immaculate Conception, Yuma and Yuma Catholic High School. In the past Bishop Kicanas has served as vice president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and also as chairman of the board of Catholic Relief Services.
Bishop welcomed input on topics/theme for focusing his presentations. His storyteller style and table time reflection in small groups allowed for thoughtful sharing and personal application for those who were in attendance.
