Summer is a great time to meet a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity. Not only are our Sisters making the rounds of parish picnics where they are privileged to serve or call home, but we continue the momentum of being on the road responding to questions of young women.
One recent stop was Panera in Mequon, WI. We felt quite at home in this environment of freshly baked artisan bread. Not only were we able to have a healthy conversation about the first steps of becoming a Sister with someone serious about commitment to our way of life, but we were well nourished by good food and drink, and enjoyable scents as well.
Of course, our ultra-favorite place to meet others is at Sunday Eucharist. Our recent prayer time at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Dobie, WI was especially heart-warming. The music couldn’t have been more sensitively chosen and inclusive of all the generations in the parish community! And everyone was there. Babes in arms and wisdom figures prayed around the altar. Talk about a place where the Adoration Chapel has a revolving door of people committed to a ministry of intercession for the world, and especially for religious vocations. A tour of Rice Lake reveals a refreshing view of creation’s beauty and peacefulness par excel lance!
With September 20-22 coming soon, we close with another invitation to attend our vocation discernment retreat where we are at our Motherhouse. If you or someone you know is contemplating the Franciscan life, please click here.
Peace and all good!
