# 11 How Do You Meet a Franciscan Sister: NE Catholic School, Health Care, Parish

Yes, there is a Franciscan Sister teaching religion at Guardian Angels Central Catholic High School in West Point, NE. Sister Joellen Kohlmann (click here to read Norfolk Daily News interview by Jerry Guentler) enjoys the young people she meets Monday through Friday in this educational setting. She also enjoys seeing the goodness of men and women who also are on the faculty and staff in this rural school who also provide daily Catholic witness of a life given to God. In the best scenario all the vocations are important in the lives of the Church and in a Catholic high school what better place to see them all working together.

Franciscan-Sister-Joellen-KohlmannSister Joellen is not alone in this rural setting. Our Franciscan Community sponsors Franciscan Healthcare Services with Sister Joy Rose new to the Mission Director role in August. Sister Doris Jurgenson is also present in both St. Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph’s Retirement Community as a helpful Franciscan Sister presence. Sister Marie Bernadette Dorn, a parish visitor to the sick and suffering for the local St. Mary Parish, also lives at St. Mary Convent.
