Ever walk into a place and just feel Christ’s words to St. Francis ‘rebuild My Church’ come alive once again?
This happened for us Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the UW Green Bay Ecumenical Center. Excited about leading the music at the Sunday evening Eucharist, we arrived in two vans, pulled into two near by parking spots and began carrying instruments, etc. etc. Meeting us was gentle-mannered Campus Minister Michael Poradek hauling his own actual portable ‘Mass kit’ creating an environment for Eucharist. His construction assistant was Scott who had already set up stands, microphones and equipment to project song lyrics, etc. This was faith in action and church ‘on the move’. How Franciscan can you get!
Important to this UW Green Bay Catholic experience was the dynamic pastoral presence of Father Daniel Schuster. His Gospel challenge, a calling for a real ‘Come to Jesus’ talk-the Sacrament of Reconciliation, honestly acknowledged how much discouragement and anxiety can really blind us from seeing the possibilities of God’s love for us. Talk about the essence of wise, practical advice.
We took this opportunity to encourage everyone to check out our April song of the month–Lead Me On. This song also encourages a spirit of ‘rebuilding Christ’s Church’. May Lent be a time for all of us to make a decision that moves us forward in our relationship with God.
We invite you to contact us if we can assist you in moving forward in a vocation to be a Franciscan Sister.
