How Do You Meet a Franciscan Sister: Houston

Paul Keggington

July 05, 2014

Ever desire to imitate St. Paul’s missionary journeys? Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity depart this morning, July 5-9, 2014 for adventures in Houston, TX. Unlike Paul, Sister Carmen Marie Diaz, Sister Mary Ann Spanjers and Sister Julie Ann Sheahan are going for the most part where we are invited and have already received a warm welcome from a very hospitable Catholic community. We go with a general itinerary of events and anticipate other surprises on the way. We are traveling light except for the 50 lbs of mostly Franciscan resource materials in our checked suitcase.

By the end of today we will arrive at the Dominicans of Houston who graciously offered us housing. We will also be present at St. Luke Parish for the Saturday evening Mass and possibly meet up with some long-time friends. We are eager to put a face to some of our other correspondence of the last months. For updated reports of our sojourn, please watch our facebook page or watch for updates on the left-hand side of our webpage here. We promise to post more stories after we arrive back  in Wisconsin on July 9.
