We wanted to do something totally ‘Francis’ with the need for peace being so urgent around the world. A musical prayer with many voices seemed to linger in our hearts. Thus, to celebrate October’s Feast of St. Francis, Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity collaborate with Sam Baker, Jamie Ousley, Kurt Kaiser, Oscar Chavez, St. Anne Catholic Community Choir, Houston, TX, Brother Al Mascia, OFM, as well as Milwaukee musicians Sue Bruk, Mark Kolter and Tanner-Monagle to offer a free Stream of Peace Concert. May the Lord bless us and make us all true instruments of peace. Click here to listen and pray.
Our celebration of the Transitus of St. Francis was especially meaningful. The script was written through the lens of St. Clare recounting what happened when this humble troubadour died. You might like to read Sister Martin’s script and possibly dream of using it next year to celebrate with us. Click here to find everything you need to plan this dramatic prayer service where you are.
There can never be too many images of St. Francis. We share Austin Artist Sue Kemp’s print S. Francesco di Assisi. You will want to click here and see some of her other watercolor creations.
It is time to share the happenings of our Sisters in Mississippi. Discover how kindergarteners celebrate with the angels, what happens at a parish festival, and what happens at a day of sharing with a diocesan bishop. Click here.
