April 16, 2015

During this Year of Consecrated Life, Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity share Sister Norma Balza’s poem To Be a Chosen One written in 1999.

Discerning Vocation Journey as Temporary ProfessedDid He pray the whole night through

Before calling me, before calling you

To observe His work?

Did He invite to ‘Come and see?’

Then gently command, ‘Come follow Me’

To learn His work?

With questioning mind and fearful heart,

Each of us came to do our part

And share His work.Franciscan-Sister-Catherine-75-Year-Jubilee-Celebration-Reception

We often stumbled as we plodded along,

To learn His work?

With questioning mind and fearful heart,

Each of us came to do our part

And share His work.

As we struggled with His work.

But His tender love was always there,

When we turned to Him in trust and prayer,

And continued His saving work.

We’ve journeyed long, year after year,Franciscan Sister Norma and family

And allowed His love to replace our fear,

To make His work a labor of love.

And soon we will hear His beckoning call,

‘Come My friend who has given your all,

And enter my Father’s rest.’”
